What we believe:
- We believe that God is eternal, and as such has existed since before time began. We believe that He exists in the form of three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each distinct and yet each equally God. We believe that before the creation of the world, God predestined man to serve the purpose of glorifying Him. Man has, during his earthly life, a free will to act according to his own desires, but those who belong to God and are called by Him, desire to do His will.
- Man is sinful from birth. No man can, in his own efforts, obtain redemption for this sinful nature. God provided a way to salvation and freedom from the bondages of sin through Jesus, God the Son, by sending Him to serve as a sacrifice by dying and resurrecting after the third day. This death, burial, and resurrection is the completed action necessary for atonement. Nothing can be added to this for salvation. Only when one calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior can he be redeemed in his relationship with God and saved from the wages of sin and hell.
- No one can, on his own, decide to call on Jesus as Savior and Lord. The individual must be called by God through the work of the Holy Spirit. It is God who does the calling and man who does the answering. Man, because of his sinful nature, is not inclined to move toward God, but away from Him. Only by the Holy Spirit’s calling can man receive God.
- God’s Word, the Bible, is divinely inspired and inerrant. The men who wrote the Scriptures were under the influence of the Holy Spirit and thus there is no error contained within. The Word is the complete and finished revelation of God. No outside sources are necessary to receive revelation, only for interpretation.
- God is active in the lives of His people, moving toward seeing His will fulfilled. He hears the prayers of believers and answers them, according to His will. His role in the events of the world never leaves us to question His place in our lives.
In these essentials there should be unity. In non-essentials there is liberty.
